Vegetable Print Designs

Vegetable prints are sprouting up all over the catwalks this season, giving fashionistas  refreshing new looks to take away from the garden and out onto the streets.

Designers like Dolce & Gabbana and Moschino recently produced veggie-inspired looks, including chili-pepper printed dresses and tomato adorned braletes.  The bold vegetable patterns are superimposed onto everything- from purses to jumpsuits - creating fun and exciting pieces.

Inspired by a “simpler lifestyle”, the quirkly notion of rocking a cucumber-covered jumpsuit may seem a tad off-putting.  However, shorts with a light eggplant pattern are less intimidating.

To achieve this funky look, select the veggie-printed item of your outfit first, perhaps a scarf, skirt, or top and base your other pieces around it.  The rest of the outfit should be solid and more subdued to highlight the veggie pattern and prevent it from looking too busy.

Leighton Meester did it right (pictured below) when she paired a  Stella McCartney citrus skirt with a yellow ruffled top, acheiving a fresh, summer look.

If you’re not ready to take the complete vegetable venture, but still want to get in on this fun trend, there are simpler alternatives- like veggie-adorned jewelry.

Do you think vegetable prints are hot or not?
