It may come as a shock, but the last Harry Potter movie came out 1 year, 7 months, and 23 days ago. The last book was released 3 years before that. Nelly Furtado sang it right – all good things come to an end. And while the world may not be ready to let the bushy-haired Hermione go yet, Emma Watson has other ideas. The trailer for her newest film, The Bling Ring was released Friday, and it’s safe to say that this is the turning point for Ms. Watson. But before I indulge you as to why, take a look for yourself.

Ain’t no Nimbus 2000 that’s gonna get her out of that mess. As you can see in the trailer, Emma Watson has officially gone to the dark side. She steals, parties, and (worst of all) wears juicy tracksuits.

The film is based on a real group of teenage burglars who ransacked Hollywood’s elite from 2008 – 2009. They reportedly stole up to $3 million in goods, mostly from Paris Hilton. And while it may be impossible difficult to feel bad for her, their targets also included Audrina Patridge, Rachel Bilson, Orlando Bloom, and Megan Fox.

Watson is playing the fictional character of Nicki, the daughter of an ex-playboy model (Leslie Mann) who was raised to believe that fame is the ultimate goal in life, and resorts to some unconventional (read: illegal) ways of obtaining it.

Ironic, since the fame that alludes her character so cruelly will be thrown upon Watson triple-fold once the movie is released. The only thing the world loves more than a good girl is a good girl gone bad. Watson made a small step towards shedding her Sandra Dee image in The Perks Of Being A Wallflower. But despite her character, Sam’s, sluttiness, she was ultimately a subject of redemption and empathy.

Now, The Bling Ring doesn’t arrive in theatres until June, but I can already speculate that hardly the same situation goes for Nicki. Watson admitted that she found inspiration in the role from the Kardashians, and who has ever felt bad for them? I mean look at Nicki…

Total Lindsay Lohan.

So, while Hermione will always live in our hearts as an self-acceptance icon on bad hair days, let’s let Emma Watson have her fun. After all, there is nothing more entertaining than a train wreck.

Are you ready to embrace Emma’s dark side in The Bling Ring?
