Braids don't let gloomy weather get them down.

Everyone has those bands that they turn to during the long, grey months of winter to combat feelings of sadness that creep in through the blinds. It’s important to realize that the months are only as lonely as you let them be; music helps more than almost anything else. So here I have a gift for you, on this first Friday of February, a playlist of those songs that make the grey days seem inspiring instead of hopeless.

“Lemonade” – BRAIDS
“You Are All I See” – Active Child
“Marked” – EMA
“The Circle Married the Line” – Feist
“Roland” – Interpol
“Fall Creek Boys Choir” – James Blake ft. Bon Iver
“Society Is My Friend” – Kurt Vile
“Ghost” – Neutral Milk Hotel

Other nominees: anything by Broadcast, plenty of The Smiths, a good dose of The Cure, and sometimes some Leonard Cohen if I get to listen to it while drinking a cup of coffee and gazing outside my window at a world covered with snow.
