Walmart Launches DVD Streaming Service

Walmart Launches DVD Streaming Service

Netflix recently announced a price increase in their services. The company no longer offers both unlimited streaming and DVD direct mail for a joint price. Instead, customers must choose one service over the other or pay for both.

In wake of this report, Walmart has entered the competition and launched a DVD streaming service on their website. The perk? Walmart’s site allows users to watch new releases the same day they come out on DVD.

While Netflix will be offering their services for unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs at $7.99 each for a month, Walmart is working a little differently. Instead of a subscription, the site has a pay-as-you-go policy. DVDs available for viewing range between $1 and $5.99. This tactic may prove to be financially better for the infrequent movie watcher but for those frequent watchers, Netflix still has the better deal.
