Shoes from Madonna's new "Truth or Dare" line

Music…check! Film…check! Fashion…double check!! Madonna has always been a trendsetter from her early days of wearing the infamous cone bra and “vogueing” to her recent nip slips on the MDNA tour. After launching the successful “Material Girl” junior line (partly inspired by her daughter, Lourdes) and a new fragrance, the musical icon is ready to bring her love for footwear to stores this fall. Starting on August 1, fashionistas everywhere coveting Madonna’s lavish and stylish heels worn throughout her career can now purchase the edgy shoes from her new “Truth or Dare” footwear line.

Sold at select Macy’s and Nordstrom stores as well as Zappos.com (starting mid-August) and ASOS, the “Truth or Dare” shoe line is produced by popular footwear retailer Aldo, which means they’ll be comfortable and affordable without sacrificing style. According to Footwear News, the shoes will range from $89 to $349 and will include over 60 styles inspired by her Madgesty herself. With everything from black heels and studs to sexy over-the-knee boots and T-strap heels typical of Madonna’s style on the stage, it’s as provocative as you’d expect of the legend. But there are also practical, flat leather boots and ankle boots.

Arianne Phillips, creative director and personal stylist for Madonna, worked with the pop star to bring some of her fabulous past footwear to life in this new line.

“They really worked together and revisited Madonna’s styles that have come up over the years—for instance, the T-strap heel,” Alia Tyrangel of Iconix Brand told Rolling Stone. “This line has a lot of black. Madonna wears a lot of black, but there’s also something for the regular girl.”

For the everyday working woman, there are some styles available in the line that would work well for office apparel, including patent leather flats in various colors. It’s the perfect mix of femininity and androgyny with a bit of edge for the woman who wants to be sexy and sophisticated. More styles from the line are available for you to catch a glimpse of before they hit stores on Wednesday.

Despite “Truth or Dare” receiving positive feedback, the rumor mill is running amok with claims that some of the styles mimic those of sole savants like Christian Louboutin, Valentino and Elin Kling. But there’s enough variety in the line to look over similar studded details, design or color. And in fashion, a little healthy competition and drawing inspiration from other designers is fairly common.

Conquering music, film, fragrance, humanitarian duties and now fashion, is there anything Madonna can’t do? We even heard a “Truth or Dare” clothing line may be in the works for style mavens who want to match their sleek footwear to their outfit. Judging by Madonna’s burgeoning list of accomplishments already, the head-to-toe possibilities are endless.

What do you think of Madonna’s new shoe line and the controversy surrounding it? What are some of your favorite styles?
