Karaoke is a hobby for the brave. Some have no problem jumping out of planes or even giving birth, but are terrified of standing up in front of a group of strangers and singing along to a song of their choice.Vin Diesel is not one of these people.
Vin Diesel posted the video on his Facebook page last Thursday. His song of choice: Rihanna and Mikky Ekko’s new, moving hit “Stay.” Yes, this is real. He starts the slow song with the expected deep, monotone Vin Diesel voice and occasionally surprises us by going into a falsetto. He stands to the side of a large projector that plays the “Stay” music video as he sings. At the end he wishes everyone a happy Valentine’s day and blows a kiss into the microphone. How sweet.
I have so many questions about this. Why did he do this? Was this a message for someone? Is Vin Diesel sad about something? Was he intoxicated? Was he just showing his fans that he has a gutsy hobby when he isn’t filming Fast & Furious movies? Was it his way of promoting Fast & Furious 6, which hits the big screen in March? It is so interesting because Vin Diesel is seen as such a “bad ass,” so this is video came as a surprise to many fans. Whatever the reason was, I don’t hate it! I love seeing people participate in bold activities. Karaoke is entertaining whether you are watching your favorite celebrity or your co-workers. It is nerve-racking for everyone, unless of course you are someone who sings for a living. But in my opinion, singing karaoke shows you have some real guts!
I thought it would be fun to check out other celebrities doing karaoke. This video features Gerard Butler singing “You Shook Me All Night Long” where he really just seems uncomfortable and like he doesn’t want to be there. Weak, Gerard. This video is of Joseph Gordon-Levitt singing Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” as he strums his guitar. And this last video stars Paul Rudd and David Wain singing “More Than A Feeling.” I think that anything Paul Rudd does is great. He is great! But all of these people are so much more likeable after seeing them go all in for a silly karaoke performance. Even if they aren’t the best of singers, they are people we would all like to hang out with now. You go, guys! We appreciate your dedication to your karaoke performances!
