Valentine’s day is coming up real soon! Doesn’t matter whether you have someone special to spend it with or not, it’s always important to look your best. What better day to ‘dress to impress’ than on what’s supposed to be the most romantic day of your life!

More than likely, if you’re a girl, you won’t know what your guy is planning- casual or formal? (Don’t you hate that?) So, you got to be prepared! Whether you’re planning to let the guy get lucky (wink wink) or not, the most important part of prepping is the face, then the hair. Here’s a few tips to help you get started:

1. Are you blushin’?: A slight rosy glow can instantly make your look more sensual and energized. Finding the perfect shade of pink can be tough. Personally, I would recommend Benefit’s Bella Bamba blush. It’s nicely pigmented, and the coral color allows it to look natural enough without going too far. One thing to watch out for though- If you apply a thick layer of blush, keep the eye makeup to a low minimum. Otherwise, you might end up sporting a clown face for the night. Yikes!

2. Red Hot Lips: What’s really ‘in’ right now is those thick red lipsticks. Not everyone can rock the true vibrant red lips though, like Taylor Swift. I’m not even sure I can rock ‘em. The red gives you the confidence boost you need to go for it, whatever it may be. But if you’re like me and can’t necessarily make red lips work, try a purplish-red/maroon color! If you like the YSL lipstick, but don’t want to spend the $34 on it, you should check out L’Oreal’s Colour Riche Caresse Aqua Lacquer Lipgloss! Woah, that was a handful to say! Extremely pigmented, and lasts forever (just like it promises)!

3. Volumize your lashes: For a more subtle tone to your face, try skipping the liner and heavy shadow, and just lash on some mascara. Apply a nude base colored shadow, and maybe a softer brown/tan-ish color. It’ll do the same trick to your eyes by making it pop, but still keep the focus on those red hot lips. If you’re like me, then you would be frustrated at finding the perfect mascara for my ever-so-short eyelashes. As a result, I have been using Benefit’s They’re Real mascara, and I can actually see the difference in length! They’re actually real!

4. Spritz Away: Spritz a soft sensual scent over your body, like Marc Jacob’s Daisy perfume. It’ll leave your boy wanting more. But don’t put on too much, or else they’ll be running so fast in the other direction!

Keep in mind that whatever you choose to do that night, less is more! Keep the colors on your face to a minimal. It has been proven by multiple beauty magazines (Cosmopolitan, Vogue, etc) that men prefer simplicity over anything.

Here are some tips to help you dress-up for your guy on Valentine’s day that will make him weak in the knees! But no one knows your guy more than you, so tell us! How will you be dressing on Valentine’s day?
