This week, news dropped about the official lineup for the upcoming season of Dancing With The Stars. While all the contestants seem like they’ll definitely be fun to watch, it’s hard not to spot some unfair advantages in who is competing.

It has been announced that 16-year-old actress and musician, Zendaya Coleman, will be a contestant this season. For those who don’t know, Coleman is most known for her role as Rocky Blue from the hit Disney Channel Show Shake It Up. Sounds simple enough, right? Wrong.

Shake It Up is a show that focuses on two best friends who love to dance. Coleman plays one of these best friends. On this show she not only deals with normal teenage girl stuff like any Disney Channel show offers, but she is also constantly dancing. Personally, I think having her on the new season on DWTS is completely an unfair advantage.

Many people might not know who Coleman is and therefore won’t realize the background she has in dancing. But trust me when I say it — The girl can dance. In this video, watch as Coleman dances to the theme song to her show. She’s the girl in the tutu; one of the clear best dancers on stage.

Granted, she may not be the world’s best dancer out there, but she certainly has some extreme talent. I know that on the show, the pairs usually end up dancing to a wide variety of genres and are always given new styles, so she might not be skilled in all of them. I still feel that she’s at a high advantage, though. She’s constantly learning choreographed dance moves for her show therefore giving her a leg up over the other competitors. Choreography doesn’t come easily to all new comers and that’s definitely not something she’ll really have to be worried about. Meanwhile her competitors might find that to be the most difficult part.

I don’t think this is fair. As much as I love the girl and think she’s really awesome, she shouldn’t be put on a dancing competition with other stars who have little-to-no background in the field.

I do understand, though, that fans at home will ultimately be the ones voting, so just because she can dance really well doesn’t necessarily mean she’s going to win. I still feel that she’s going to make it very far in the competition and putting her up against stars who don’t have the same knowledge or skills she does, isn’t really right.

What do you think about Zendaya Coleman being on the new season of Dancing With The Stars?
