UK Rapper Tinie Tempah

La Roux, Ellie Goulding, Arctic Monkeys, and countless other British artists have found great success in the U.S. over the past few years, and now, a new star of a different genre is fulfilling his dream. The latest music star to make the move from the U.K. to the U.S., rapper Tinie Tempah, is celebrating after recently becoming the first British rapper to go platinum in the U.S. with his hit single, “Written in the Stars.”

The track peaked at No. 12 on the charts here, but has already reached No. 1 in the U.K. Tinie, 22, who says he “couldn’t have asked for a better start,” just dropped his first album, “Disc-Overy” in the U.S. on May 17, and shows no signs of slowing down his career. After appearing on fellow rap artist Wiz Khalifa’s track, “Black and Yellow,” he is collaborating with him again on his own second single “Til’ I’m Gone.” Khalifa, who has only had compliments for Tempah, says that the single was to “return the favor.” He also predicts even more fame and success for Tempah, calling him an “amazing” artist in addition to being “a pretty swagged out individual.”

And it looks like we can take his word for it; Tinie is even planning his own fashion line that he has named Disturbing London—a homage to his hometown. With the line, he is trying to design clothing that encompasses all of his different fashion tastes in one collection: “a lifestyle clothing brand that created everything I want out of a brand.”

Although the company is still “a work in progress,” Tinie Tempah’s many endeavors have proved that he has the style to go along with his talent.
