I recently became interested in eye makeup, so I started watching videos and looking up beauty blogs for inspiration. But after watching those long, 12 minute demos on YouTube, layering and smudging and lining and tracing, there was still something missing from my look, something no one was telling me. So after some heavy research and a lot of trial and error, I’m here to tell you fashion fanatics the secret to stunning eye makeup: false lashes.
Although false lashes are pretty widely used, for some reason they haven’t “arrived” in the mainstream beauty industry, and I’m not sure why. Is it because they’re “fake” and they’re on your face? Or is it an issue of them being hard to put on? Well if you ask me, 50-ft hair extensions are a little harder to manage than a couple of hairs you bat your eyes with. So, on that note, I’m debunking the myths about fake lashes so you’ll be willing to give them a try.
Myth#1: It’s too expensive. It can be, as anything else can be. If you choose to spend thousands of dollars on hair extensions, it’s your prerogative, but with eye lashes, you don’t have to spend a lot to get a lot out of them. Even high-end falsies from Sephora aren’t more than $20, but the 7-dollar ones from your local drug store are just as good.
Myth#2: You can’t do it yourself. It’s safe to say that fake eyelashes are better to do yourself. There are tons of helpful blogs and YouTube videos if you’re looking for some great how-tos or a little bit of inspiration. It’s definitely safer and a lot easier than a lot of other at-home beauty procedures, i.e. perms, relaxers, body waxing. Now, eye lash extensions are a different story. Visit your local cosmetologist to decide if eyelash extensions are right for you.
Myth#3: They’re wasteful. If you’re a strong believer in the green revolution like I am, fake eye lashes are great because you can re-use them until you decide to throw them out. Sometimes, you can even keep them on for extended periods of time. NovaLashes, like the kind Jessie James wears, are meant to be kept on for months at a time. Do some research and find out what works best.
Myth#4: There’s not enough variety. Lashes come in all different sizes, colors, and textures. You can get feather lashes or spidery thick ones. You can even put them on individually if you’re going for a more detailed look. For those gals who want to look natural, no worries: You can them short and thick, or long and wavy. So it’s decided: there’s lashes out there for anyone!
I’m not saying all stars have fake lashes. But you’d be surprised the ones that do: Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry, Beyonce , and Kate Winslett to name a few! Experiment. Watch the experts, and you’ll be putting on fabulous lashes in the blink of an eye!Tags: beauty industry, eye lash extensions, fake lashes, makeup, YouTube
