Tom Ford to Launch Color Collection

Tom Ford, the man credited with bringing the Gucci house from the brink of bankruptcy to the peak of success, will be launching an extensive cosmetics line, including everything from vibrant eye-shadows to a full skin-care system. Ford stands by the strength of his upcoming line, stating that he sleeps in the Intensive Infusion Concentrate Extreme, a serum that is said to absorb directly into the skin.

It was the overflowing demand for his Private Blend Lip Color Collection, introduced in 2010, that inspired the designer to venture into the beauty industry.

Dishing to Women’s Wear Daily, Ford explains why he has been holding off from venturing into the color cosmetics field:

“My intention was to do color cosmetics out of the gate, but not everyone else was convinced that I had a voice in color until the lipsticks started selling out again and again,” he said, referring to the Private Blend Lip Color Collection, a group of 12 ultrapigmented colors that launched last year.

The provocative ads feature himself and runway magnate, Lara Stone, the current face of Calvin Klein. If the ads are any indication, the color pay-off in his products are amazing, extremely pigmented yet easy to blend. The collection is made up of 132 different items, including brow pencils, lip-glosses, and foundation. Debuting sometime this year, the prices will range anywhere between $30 and $250.
