Kanye and Jay Z Keeping America Cool in "Otis"

When Badoo.com, a social networking site, asked its international subscribers what nationality was the “coolest,” American was the hot answer.  America came in first place in the poll, in which 15 countries and 30,000 people voted, with Brazilians, Spanish, and Italians falling to second, third, and fourth.

What makes being an American so cool, you ask? Here are some reasons we think America is just plain awesome:

1. Music: We have the best music. From country singers in Nashville to rappers in Detroit, no one can deny that the music in America is for every nationality. Who doesn’t love a good Kid Rock jam in the middle of summer, or some beats by Notorious B.I.G. to dance to in the club?

Pulp Fiction: America's Coolest Export

2. Movies: From Tarantino to Cameron, Americans are the best directors around. There isn’t a person who hasn’t seen Titanic or Avatar.  And if there is, they have seen Pulp Fiction.

3. Reality TV: When Italians gather in an American city like Seaside, NJ, they make America cool. That’s right, we’re talking about Jersey Shore, the reality show that, whether you love it or hate it, does make America pretty cool. Add in American Idol, The Real World, and Hell’s Kitchen, and America is sizzling.

4. Diversity: No, I’m not going to go on about the Constitution, but I am going to tell you that the style in America is based on an open interaction between cultures. In NYC, you have China Town and Little Italy two blocks apart.

If the freedom to be yourself makes you cool, it’s no wonder America is the coolest.
