In case you haven’t heard, TLC is coming back to your screen…in the form of a movie. Crazy, Sexy, Cool: The TLC Story was inevitable. It was inevitable because they’ve been coined as one of the best girl groups of all time. It was inevitable because of the countless hits they produced album, after album, after album. It was inevitable because everyone simply loved them.

So, inevitably (tired of the word yet?), there’s going to be major issues with the reception of the film.

It started when the the cast was released. Drew Sidora, Keke Palmer, and Lil’ Mama will be the on-screen versions of T-Boz, Chili, and Left Eye, respectively. In a nutshell, this is how everyone reacted:

Specifically, reactions to Lil’ Mama being part of the movie were like this:

DOUBLE HAHA. DOUBLE NO. I stopped watching “America’s Best Dance Crew” for a reason.

So, to save the face of the movie, Chili and T-Boz did some PR of their own. Despite all the Instagram shots with the actors, and rants on Twitter to back them up, everyone was still like, ”This will be going straight to DVD.” (even though it’ll be airing on TV, dumb-dumbs).

But feast your eyes on, this doubters!

Vh1 released a few shots of the trio as their new roles, and I must say, THIS IS PHENOM.

Are they exact replicas, or are they exact replicas?! And, let’s be real here,  Lil’ Mama, despite much apprehension, embodies Left Eye the best! Smart move to relesase the pictures after all the backlash after news of the cast. Dare I say, I’m ready? I’m actually ready for this to happen?

In this case, a picture isn’t worth a 1,00o words, because we haven’t seen them act.

Well we’ve seen Keke Palmer in “True Jackson, VP” on Nickelodeon a few years back, and  Drew Sidora sparingly in “That’s So Raven”, and Step Up. But the only time we’ve seen Lil’ Mama act is when she pretended to like all those dance crews…

Yet, after the successful promotional pictures, I’m not going to doubt this anymore. Hopefully they won’t prove themselves to be scrubs (had to do it).

Are you on board with the movie? Or will this be another failed attempt at a musical homage?
