The Strokes

After four years of relative silence, New York rockers The Strokes are releasing their new album, Angles, on March 22nd.  In anticipation of the release, the band premiered a very classy video this week for their first single, “Under Cover of Darkness,” a song about love, war, and waiting for your girlfriend’s friends to go away.  Check it out after the jump!

The new album is bound to be different than anything else the band has yet produced.  Every single member has contributed a track, something foreign to The Strokes, who generally lean heavily on lead singer/songwriter Julian Casablancas.  Guitarist Nick Valensi told Rolling Stone, “This is the first [album] where we are truly working democratically. It’s taken a long time because this is a new model for us.”

The Strokes reportedly worked on the album for over two years.  I can’t wait to hear what promises to be a truly unique effort from these always interesting rock stars!
