When I heard that Lana Del Rey was lending her soulful vocals to the soundtrack for The Great Gatsby, I was ecstatic. My favorite book collaborating with my favorite sultry singer simply meant that history will be made, and that is exactly what is happening.

The full song, “Young & Beautiful,”  has not yet been released, however, the audio preview is already a masterpiece, like the novel.

Simply stunning and angelic, what a tease, am I right?! Though I would have much preferred to listen solely to Lana’s crooning, the audio snippits from the movie definitely contribute to the anticipation of the movie and the full track. The very snippit is featured in the most recent trailer for the film to highlight Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Daisy Buchanan’s (Carey Mulligan) complicated romance. Watch the full preview of The Great Gatsby below (Lana’s vocals comes in around 1 minute).

Truth be told, I originally had some doubts that the movie would not live up to F. Scott Fitzgerald’s most notable novels, despite the fact that Leonardo DiCaprio would take the lead, so hearing Lana’s contribution definitely assures me that the movie can’t go as wrong as I fear. The new trailer also delivers quite beautifully, don’t you agree?

Are you more excited for the premiere of The Great Gatsby or the release of the full version of Lana Del Rey’s “Young & Beautiful?”
