Taylor Swift at the 2011 People's Choice Awards

Country cutie Taylor Swift is only 21 years old, but she is one of the most successful artists of this generation. In fact, Billboard named her the number two Top Artist of 2010, and Forbes named her the number 12 Most Powerful Celebrity in 2010.  Not only is Taylor influential in music, she is also known for her impeccable fashion sense.

Taylor brings a sense of “old Hollywood glamour” back to the red carpet, something that celebrities have recently been missing. It is refreshing to see someone who consistently looks classy and glamorous.  All too often the headlines are about celebrities baring too much skin, wardrobe malfunctions, and forgetting to wear underwear. Taylor’s signature red lips and winged black eyeliner remind us of the more elegant and tasteful 1930′s.

In an interview with iVillage, she talked about what inspires her fashion.  She said, “I’m inspired by retro styles throughout history. I love red lips and vintage hairstyles.”

But Taylor’s love for vintage goes beyond just hair and make-up. Taylor also loves retro-style shoes, stating, “I love oxford shoes in unique colors.”

Taylor Swift in Oxfords

Taylor’s old school glamour is very achievable in real life. Oxfords have been a big trend lately and can be found at many affordable stores such as Steve Madden, Aldo, and TopShop. These shoes are very versatile and can be worn with jeans or dressed up with a dress or skirt.  Check out how Taylor does it!

Also, longer (more old school) hemlines are very in this season. They were seen all over the runways and are making their way to stores as well. Maxi and midi skirts are all the rage for spring and if worn correctly, they can look cute yet classy at the same time.  Either go for a slightly sheer long skirt or pair your longer length skirt with some heels and a tank top to balance it out. Maxi and midi skirts are already available at stores such as TopShop, Urban Outfitters, and ASOS.

What do you think? Should more people dress retro glam like Taylor, or will skin always be in?
