On Thursday night’s season finale of “Tamar and Vince“, singer and actress, Tamar Braxton gave her fans a sneak peek of her new album Love & War. Braxton performed both songs “Love & War“ and “Hot Sugar,” which are hits, in my opinion. The actress/singer seemed ecstatic about the release of her album, explaining that it had been 13 years in the making.
The ”get cha life,” star is not a new comer to the music world. Besides being the sister of singer Toni Braxton and growing up in a music enriched home, Tamar Braxton also released the self-titled debut album Tamar in 2000. However, the album did not do well on the music charts. I believe that fact put more pressure on Braxton to produce a hit album.
The big question that presents itself is, will “Love & War” be a hit? I think one of the factors that will determine Braxton’s success in the music world is her publicity. We have seen many talented artists hit the music scene and fail due to the lack of publicity and management. However, Tamar’s husband, Vincent Herbert, seems to have that under control. Herbert has managed some of the biggest names in music, including Lady Gaga and Toni Braxton. Lady Gaga who is also friends with Tamar Braxton tweeted,
“K I NEVER PROMOTE ARTISTS but if u want your mind blown check @tamarbraxtonher “Love & War” She’s Toni Braxton sister + her voice is BEYOND.”
On Friday after Gaga’s tweet, Braxton’s single “Love & War” became #1 on Itunes in the United States and UK. Publicity? Check!
In addition, I believe the main difference between Braxton’s new album Love & War and her last album is her following of fans. She has made a name for herself with the help of her big sis, Toni Braxton with the WE TV show “Braxton Family Values.” Also, her role on ”Tamar & Vince” has allowed her to possibly gain more fans and keep her current ones. Although Tamar can be a diva, I think she has a likeability factor. Her animated personality makes fans laugh and feel like they have known her forever. I have even found myself repeating some of her famous quotes (i.e. “get cha life”).
Tamar Braxton seems to have the talent, publicity, song hits, and fans for Love and War to be a hit. Hopefully, her fans will have “several seats” at her concerts.
