Now that Henry Cavill has landed the coveted part of Superman in Zack Snyder’s reboot, it’s time to focus the attention on finding the female lead. As you might have noticed I’ve been referring to “the female lead.” The character that will romance Superman hasn’t been revealed yet…and it won’t be Lois Lane. Rumor has it that Kristen Stewart and Rachel McAdams were being considered. However, the studio didn’t want the leading lady overshadowing its leading man so those two are out. At the moment, the shortlist to play the character has Alice Eve, Rosamund Pike, and Diane Kruger on it.
Now, who are these ladies?
I’m pretty sure we are all familiar with German actress, Diane Kruger. After all, she played an actress and allies’ informant, Bridget von Hammersmark, in Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglorious Basterds.” She is also known for the “National Treasure” films alongside Nicolas Cage. The 33-year-old actress has been working on “Special Forces” and “Farewell, My Queen” this year.
Alice Eve is the lesser known of the three. The 29-year- old, London born actress appeared in two comedies last year, “She Is Out My League” and “Sex and the City 2.” According to HitFix, this is not Eve’s first try to get into a superhero movie. She was in the running to become Peggy Carter in “Captain America: The First Avenger.”
The third candidate, Rosamund Pike, also heads from London. The actress, who is 31-year-old, has appeared in several films including “An Education,” “The Surrogates” together with Bruce Willis and “Barney’s Version” with Paul Giamatti. Pike has several projects lined up for this year including “The Big year,” “Johnny English Reborn” and even a TV show called ”Women in Love.”
Having taken a look to these ladies there is one thing I have to say. Superman has had his share of ladies in his life but only two have been prominent: Tough-as-nails journalist and dark haired, Lois Lane and high school sweetheart and blonde haired, Lana Lang. I don’t want to jump the gun here but I’m almost sure that Superman’s female lead will be a more mature Lana Lang. I could be wrong, though. Apparently, the filmmakers are keeping the character secret so they might have a surprise in store for the public and Lana Lang is a very obvious choice.
If the main female character isn’t Lois Lane and Lana Lang ends up no being one, who will be? And which of these ladies will take the role?Tags: Alice Eve, An Education, Bruce Willis, Captain Maerica: The First Avenger, Diane Kruger, Farewell My Queen, Henry Cavill, Inglorious Basterds, Johnny English Reborn, Kristen Stewart, National Treasure, Nicolas Cage, Quentin Tarantino, rachel McAdams, Rosamund Pike, Sex and the City 2, She Is Out My League, Special Forces, Superman, The Big Year, The Surrogates, Women in Love, Zack Snyder
