Tuesday night, British designer Stella McCartney’s pre-fall 2013 collection was unveiled for an audience of celebrity guests including Jerry Seinfeld, Anna Wintour, Alec Baldwin, Mary-Louise Parker and Gucci Westman at the Americas Society Art Gallery in New York City. The runway was dominated by beautiful black-and-white patterns and contemporary coats.
McCartney, who was recently crowned Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards, wore an elegant grey jumpsuit, one of the 32 pieces from her line that were showcased at the event. The jumpsuit has become one of the designer’s staple pieces for evening wear.
She told WWD.com that “it was about loosening the stricter side of a woman and adding a little playfulness – bringing two emotions together.” I personally love the jumpsuit and its versatility. It can be paired with accessories to make a statement or be wore alone, like McCartney did, for a sophisticated look.
Along with the black-and-white stripes, there was a fairly dark color palette of blues, reds, oranges, and tans. Many of the outfits were simple and paired with a chic loafer or ankle boot. The make-up and hair echoed the effortless looks with neutral colors and tones. I think the pieces can be easily incorporated into any girl’s wardrobe regardless of their personal style because of the versatility of McCartney’s line.
At the uptown affair, artists were present for live portraits of the models and McCartney launched her new, widely accepted optical line. A girl can never have too many glasses! They are the perfect accessory to change up a look.Tags: pre-fall 2013, Stella McCartney
