I’m not a Sports Illustrated reader (even-though I was excited back in when Beyonce made the front cover) but SI cover model Kate Upton caught my attention when she walked down the runway at Mexico City Fashion week, looking classy in a beautiful orange dress, showing off her lovely curves to an adoring audience.
It’s hard to believe that the 19-year old blonde bombshell is making such huge waves by setting an example of a healthy body image in the fashion world. You have your stick-skinny models at fashion week in Paris, but then you have Upton, who is even more famous… for being herself.
“I never deprive myself. If I’m craving something once a week I’ll go have it… Ice cream or whatever, I just eat foods I like,” Kate tells the NY Post via DailyMail.
I’m glad to see that us curvy girls are finally getting the attention we deserve. But although this is another great breakthrough in the fashion world, I’m wondering if Kate’s start as a sports model has anything to do with it. I can’t wait for the day when the “high” fashion industry will have a wider array healthy body images for young girls to look up to.body image, Daily Mail, kate upton, Mexico City, mexico city fashion week, Sports Illustrated
