Just this month, Russell Brand appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show shutting down the rapidly spreading rumors that he and Katy Perry were getting a divorce. The comedian went as far as telling Ellen, “I really am happily married…perpetually, until death do us part was the pledge. I’m still alive.”
Unfortunately, Brand had a change of heart and filed for divorce from the pop star on Friday. On the court petition, the actor cited “irreconcilable differences” as reason for the split.
Brand released a statement, saying, “Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.”
This doesn’t come as much of a surprise as it was reported that the two spent Christmas apart and were photographed not wearing their wedding rings.
I was hoping the power couple would reconcile their differences but clearly this is not the case. While it will be sad to see the duo part, their two year marriage is somewhat of a milestone in Hollywood. At least they far surpassed Kim and Kris’ 72 day matrimony.Brand and Perry Split, divorce, Katy and Russell, Katy and Russell divorce, Katy Perry, Russell Brand
