MTV Video Music Awards 2011

MTV’s Video Music Awards are not just another red carpet event where you look at impeccably dressed actresses with the glossiest hair and shiniest shoes; it is the exact opposite.  The VMAs are where controversies and announcements make the headline, where fashion reaches the helm of eccentricity.

The VMA’s are more…relaxed as compared to other award nights. Lady Gaga’s Jo Calderone get-up, Jersey Shore’s ensemble style, Nicky Minaj’s candy and toy covered dress, and Katy Perry’s cube hat did indeed leave all eyes raised during the show, but nevertheless there were some divas whose outfits were mellower better.

Beyonce Knowles

The line ‘stealing the show’ is rather appropriate for Beyonce as her announcement of being pregnant took more space in the headlines than the award winners. She wore a vibrant orange Lanvin gown and practically illuminated the stage with her pregnancy glow. She simply looked stunning!

Adele

Adele’s song “Someone like You” kept the audience in silence while the singer wore a Barbara Tfank black dress with scallop-detailing and a wide black belt. The singer looked like a legend, timeless and chic.

Britney Spears

Britney Spears, who is known for her unconventional behavior at the VMAs every year (snake dance and liplock, anyone?), kept a rather low profile with a sequined Moschino romper with a hip slung belt and matching black shorts. Her shoe choice wasn’t the wisest, but it was nice to see her so healthy and happy for a change.

Zoe Saldana

Zoe Saldana opted for a simple LBD by Barbara Biu.  The leather paneled skirt and her ever-so radiant smile are what took our hearts.

Victoria Justice

Victoria Justice arrived in a super mini golden-sequined dress with sleek hair and Rock and Republic shoes. Her outfit choice was safe for the VMAs, though it was nothing extraordinary.

Kelly Rowland

Kelly Rowland turned in a sexy Falguni and Shane peacock dress and Christian Louboutins to keep the night alive.

Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez wore an age-appropriate Julien MacDonald black gown with lace details. We really hope she didn’t trip because of the vampire details!
