Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson, and Mary J. Blige

“VH1 Divas Celebrate Soul” debuted Monday night.  The show was a dedication to cities like Chicago, Philly, London, Memphis, and Detroit. These are the cities responsible for the birth of soul music. Soul singers Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson, Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu, and Jill Scott came and belted one school soul as well as their own songs.

This was a night for only the exclusive and seasoned artist, so there were performances by Chaka Khan and the legendary Mavis Staples. There was also a warm tribute to the late Amy Winehouse. Nas introduced the tribute, which was followed by a performance by Florence Welch, Sharon Jones and Wanda Jackson with the Dap Kings.

All the ladies did a phenomenal job, it was surely a night for the professionals, the DIVAS!
