Old Navy Debuts Superfan Nation in 1,000 Stores Nationwide

Old Navy will sell apparel and accessories from NFL and select collegiate sports teams through Superfan Nation, an in-store shop set to open today. This is the result of a signed deal with the Collegiate Licensing Company and the NFL to make t-shirts and other paraphernalia for college sports and football teams. Superfan Nation debuts in 1,000 Old Navy stores across the country today and will feature licensed sports gear from NFL teams and collegiate programs such as Texas, Kentucky and Stanford.

The new sports-oriented shop will offer merchandise to men, women, and children and sell branded goods from 32 NFL teams and 71 Division I colleges. Old Navy stores are taking a regional approach and will gear what they carry toward local teams and fans.

For example, Old Navy stores will appeal to customers in Texas by featuring the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and University of Texas and supplying merchandise exclusively from those teams.  The sports apparel and merchandise, specifically designed for Old Navy, will start at $14.94 and prices for accessories and assorted other goods will begin at $5.50. The merchandise will also be available online.

The Superfan nation in-store shops are being launched with a seven-figure marketing campaign that will include advertising at college stadiums and arenas, in-store appearances by college bands, cheerleaders and mascots, hosting store events like tailgate parties, and a 10-day national television advertising campaign. Old Navy will also promote its expanded offerings at 35 college campuses from late September to spring 2012.
