With election day quickly approaching many of us are registering to vote and staying tuned to the presidential debates to assure that on November 6th our voice is heard. Celebrities are always a big influence when elections come around, they have the power to say things and make the public listen. This year there are a number of celebrities who are speaking through fashion.
Some of Hollywood’s biggest names such as Ricky Martin, Rachael Zoe, Vera Wang, Beyonce, Sarah Jessica Parker, Nanette Lepore and Marc Jacobs, to name a few are stepping in to support the re-election of President Obama.
Latin pop singer Ricky Martin has designed a simple T-shirt with an important message. This white shirt has the word “UNIDOS”(Spanish for united) centered across the chest in patriotic colors. Martin, who hosted an Obama fundraiser in New York in May, tells Hispanics that the Democrat must be reelected, “So that this community can continue to advance.”
Designer Vera Wang is mainly known for her beautiful red carpet gowns and fairy tale worthy wedding dresses so I was curious to see what she would come up with to support the election. The cute canvas tote bag is a perfect accessory for any voters with a positive attitude. It is great for women of all ages to show their support.
Beyonce has always been a trendsetter for women every where with her exquisite sense of style. But now that she is a new mom she has another future fashionista to worry about. It is no doubt that her baby girl is always well dressed, and now she is also supporting the campaign. Beyonce and her mom Tina have designed a series of baby onesies to support Barack Obama in this years election. Each bundle comes with 3 onesises and are too cute to resist!
Thankfully for us scarf lovers the election is at the peak of Autumn. Nanette Lepore has created a black silk over sized scarf with the words “Obama 2012” printed in white. Pair it with your favorite boots and you are ready to vote!
