On March 9, 1997, Christopher Wallace, the rapper otherwise known as The Notorious B.I.G. and Biggie Smalls, was shot and killed. Fifteen years later, his autopsy report has been leaked, revealing the brutal details of his unsolved murder.

TMZ has somehow gained access to the leaked report that says Wallace was shot four times while sitting on the passenger side of a Chevy Suburban on Wilshire Blvd. The first gun shot hit Wallace in his left forearm and wounded him down to his wrist. The second shot hit him in the back and exited through his shoulder, but missed all of his vital organs. The third shot went through his right thigh. Gun shot number four, however, was fatal. The bullet went through his right hip and punctured his colon, liver, heart, and left lung. Wallace was pronounced dead at 1:15 AM.

There are many theories about who killed Wallace. The most popular and controversial theory, in my opinion, suggests that the LAPD had something to do with the murder. The Wallace family accused the police department of covering up evidence essential to solving the case, but nothing ever happened.  I think it’s possible that the re-opening of this case and the newly leaked evidence will spark interest from the media, but it will not result in any new leads.

Why did it take 15 years for the autopsy of a famous artist to be released? Did the LAPD try to cover up another scandal because they had enough bad press going on at the time? I think the theory regarding police involvement is not far fetched; hopefully it will be investigated more thoroughly now that more information is becoming public. However, this is unlikely. The LAPD has had a bad reputation over the years, and I do not think anyone from the department is willing to bring back the scandals of their past.

What does this mean for the unsolved case of Christopher Wallace? Unfortunately, nothing. It is unclear why the report was finally leaked after all this time, but it is sure to bring attention to Wallace’s murder again. The sad part about this is that Violetta Wallace, the rapper’s mother, will have to face reporters and investigators once again.

Although the autopsy report is interesting and sad to read, I do not think it changes what is already known about the death of Christopher Wallace. The case may open and close many times, but I do not believe we will ever know the truth about who murdered Notorious B.I.G.
