Nina Dobrev

When it comes to reading interviews with Hollywood starlets, many tend to brag and dish about how they can eat whatever they want, yet are photographed going in and out of the gym all the time. Despite the contradicting comments from many Tinseltown “It” girls, not every picture-perfect twenty-something is spewing a message that “thin is in.” Just ask the 22-year-old star of the CW’s Vampire Diaries Nina Dobrev.

Nina Dobrev Flaunts Her Figure on the Cover of Seventeen Fitness

The former Degrassi: The Next Generation darling is baring her beach-ready bikini bod in the first-ever edition of Seventeen Fitness. While some actors in La-La-Land workout to shed an extra pound or two for an impending role or award show, Dobrev does it for what it brings for her in return: a sense of accomplishment and happiness.

“When I work out, I feel happy, confident and accomplished,” said Dobrev to the magazine. Thus sending a positive message to her fans that working out isn’t just about the physical rewards or a toned physique, but inner emotional joy as well.

Though Dobrev may not be one of those stars who’s a slave to his or her treadmill, she does admit to altering her diet in the past. While she may have been hoping her meatless eating habits would be beneficial, it turned out to be anything but.

“At the end of last year, I tried being a vegetarian for four months, and after awhile I started feeling weak, like I needed more protein, more energy,” said Dobrev. “Then I read a review of an episode of The Vampire Diaries online, and the writer mentioned I was looking too thin. I was like, ‘Okay maybe they’re right.’”

Even though Dobrev’s meatless diet didn’t exactly work out for her, she doesn’t condemn it.  “I have so much respect for vegetarians and I’m so glad I tried it,” said Dobrev, “but it just didn’t work out for me.”
