Me before the concert

I don’t know about everyone else, but when I have somewhere really exciting to go to, I plan my outfit at least a week before it happens.  The Childish Gambino concert that I had tickets for was no exception. But I was facing a problem: how do I fit in with the laid back following of an artist, while still keeping true to my style, which is kind of dressy? As a person who obsesses on how they look, this was a serious question.

The answer was simple enough: with cut off denim shorts and a cute tee. I already had the perfect shorts.A few weeks ago, I made distressed shorts from a pair of high waisted  jeans I found at a thrift store. All I needed was a top. Luckily for me, I found one for $7 on clearance at H&M! Now that I had something to wear, I had  to figure out how to wear it. Normally, because of my body shape, when I wear my high waisted shorts, I wear a structured shirt that fits close to the body; however, the shirt I was planning to wear was loose fitting and had flowy sleeves. To create the shape that I wanted, I tucked the front of the shirt into the shorts and added a thin brown belt for a smooth transition from shirt to shorts.

Earrings and Watch

I decided to add the dressy part of my personal style with the accessories. Gold went well with the burgundy shirt, so I wore long chain earrings that I  had purchased form a vendor at my school. Next, I choose the leopard print bands of my GUESS watch. Originally I was going to wear a pair of leopard wedges, but after some consideration, I decided that a pair of black sandals were more appropriate. My black Jessica Simpson clutch completed the look.

The outfit reflected my everyday style to the T. It was simple and comfortable, but I still felt  girly and like I had put in effort. I proceeded into the night feeling confident and was to completely able to enjoy Childish Gambino’s set without worrying about my look.
