Everyone's Favorite Pop Princess

Next Sunday the MTV Video Music Awards are holding a tribute to the iconic princess of pop Britney Spears. The promo for her tribute was released recently and it looks amazing.

The tribute is going to explore Britney’s prolific career and include the singer’s own inspirations. According to MTV, Spears will pay her respects to Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Janet Jackson “the people I’ve grown up listening to and totally inspire [me].”

“We are going to be exploring her past styles. In particular, past six styles that represent each of her albums, with the seventh one being the current incarnation,” director Jahai Brightly told MTV.

Word on the Internet was that teen pop sensation Selena Gomez was going to be performing in the tribute, but that turned out to be false. But Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga will all be performing mash ups of Brit’s hit singles. And Madonna is reportedly going to take the stage at the end to give Ms. Spears a lifetime achievement award.

Kudos on the award Britney, you’ve earned it.
