Even after seeing how lovey-dovey Chris Brown and Rihanna were at the Grammys last week, I was skeptical about the possibility of a happy ending for the couple. Their relationship has always been rocky, and the best predictor of future behavior is, after all, past behavior. Because of this, I wasn’t all that surprised to hear the rumors that Rihanna ignored her (ex?) boyfriend at a Hollywood club on Friday night.

Apparently Brown was out partying on Thursday night with his ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran, and Rihanna was not pleased. I can’t say I blame her; the love triangle has been a repeated source of trouble and since their relationship is already on thin ice, issues like this become dealbreakers. At the same time, it might be for the best–maybe Rihanna will realize that although she and Brown “love” each other, those feelings might not be enough. If Brown is trying to make up for his past actions, then this is certainly a sad effort.

I don’t know how much longer I can watch Rihanna let herself be toyed around by him. Obviously, not all the details are out on the story and I’m hesitant to jump to conclusions, but there seems to be no end to Brown’s bad behavior. I’m a huge fan of finding true love, but when that love is ruined by abuse and neglect then maybe it’s simply time to call it quits.

I’m hoping that the tabloids are wrong, or that Rihanna just has her guard up and assumed the worst when she heard that Brown and his former fling were hanging out. I want to believe that Brown can change and move forward, but honestly, at this point Rihanna is just embarrassing herself and setting a poor example for battered women everywhere.

Do you agree with me? What do you make of this most recent Brown/Rihanna news?
