Now more than ever it seems that newly Academy Award winning starlet Natalie Portman is on top of the world. Apart from winning countless awards this season, including a Golden Globe and SAG award, Natalie will be appearing in multiple soon-to-be hits later this year and is about to take on her biggest roles to date as a wife and mother. It seems that nothing or no one can stop Portman’s tidal wave of success, but one politician sure tried.
Last week, former presidential candidate, Mike Huckabee, spoke out against the Oscar winning mommy-to-be, and how she got pregnant out of wedlock. As the Toronto Sun, among additional outlets reported, Huckabee spoke with radio host Mike Medved and took a deliberate swing at the upcoming Thor star’s now public personal life.
“One of the things that’s troubling is that people see a Natalie Portman or some other Hollywood starlet who boasts of, ‘Hey look, you know, we’re having children, we’re not married, but we’re having these children,’ and they’re doing fine,” said Huckabee.
The conservative former governor of Arkansas further slammed the actress by noting there “aren’t really a lot of single moms out there who are making millions for being in a movie.” As MTV’s guilty pleasure Teen Mom documents, “most single moms are very poor, uneducated, can’t get a job,” Huckabee further concluded.
Though this Harvard graduate may have only a few months left before she and fiance Benjamin Millepied welcome their baby into the world, Portman isn’t letting this bout of negative press get her down. After announcing both her engagement and surprising pregnancy the No Strings Attached actress announced that she was “indescribably happy and feel grateful for this experience .”
While Portman’s camp has yet to comment, one thing is for certain, this minor “media storm” won’t rain on Natalie’s highly successful parade.Tags: Academy Award, Benjamin Millepied, black swan, Golden Globe, Harvard, Mike Huckabee, MTV, natalie portman, No Strings Attached, SAG Awards, Teen Mom
