This past year, R&B singer Miguel has taken the world by storm. Not only did he have a special EP series, but he also performed at the 2013 Grammys. On top of that, he took home the Grammy for Best R&B Song for his single “Adorn.” Plus he also got to tour with Alicia Keys on her Set This World on Fire tour. He’s already racking up quite the resume in such a short amount of time and he’s about to add even more to it.

This week, Miguel has announced that he will be releasing a new EP series that is set to come out this summer. In 2012 he released an EP series of three called Art Dealer Chic. This next set of EPs will go by the same name, but will be considered volumes 4, 5 and 6. This time around a lot more people will be paying attention to his release considering his increasing popularity.

I’m really excited to hear new music from Miguel. He has a very unique sound and it’s hard to deny that his voice is incredibly soulful and pleasing to listen to. On top of that while his lyrics seem simple on the surface, he clearly puts a lot of thought into them. He toys a lot with the meaning of words and playing with words. This makes listening to his music that much more enjoyable.

Not only is he coming out with a new set of EPs, but he’s also working with other up-and-coming artists, like Kendrick Lamar. He recently announced that he’s working with Lamar on a remix of Kaleidoscopes‘s “How Many Drinks?” Miguel seems really excited to work with Lamar and get this out. He had some incredibly nice things about Lamar to say:

Kendrick is poised to be the next staple in hip-hop and I certainly intend on becoming that for R&B. I don’t get that vibe that he’s putting on… I just feel like he’s just being honest in his music. Newer, younger artists, that’s what we’re all striving to do. Just be ourselves. Kendrick is one of the best examples of that.

I can’t wait to see what this upcoming year has for Miguel. I hadn’t known about him until his performance on the Grammys and from that day forward I have been hooked. I definitely advise anyone who hasn’t already heard of him to give him a listen. My favorite song by him is “Sure Thing.

Do you like Miguel? How do you feel about his new EP series?
