Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe

In October’s issue of Vogue, former “Dawson’s Creek” teen star Michelle Williams poses as the late Marilyn Monroe, and she pulls off the look pretty well! In My Week with Marilyn, a film arriving at the New York Film Festival this week, Williams takes on the role of a lifetime. The role took much more preparation than one would expect.

“I’d go to bed every night with a stack of books next to me,” Williams says in the Vogue interview. “And I’d fall asleep to movies of her. It was like when you were a kid and you’d put a book under your pillow, hoping you’d get it by osmosis.”

When Williams wasn’t studying and learning Monroe’s movements, head tilts, and walks, she was working on getting the figure that Monroe was famous for, which isn’t easy. In the interview, Williams explains that she had to gain weight to get the hips, but for her, her face was all that kept gaining anything.

Williams is no stranger to the big screen. In the past ten years, the actress has been cast in 25 movies. After reading the My Week with Marilyn script and immediately falling in love with it, Williams knew she wanted to play the role of Marilyn regardless of how much work she had to put into it.  If you weren’t sure she could pull off Marilyn, look again. After hearing it, I wasn’t sure either, but Vogue‘s interview and stunning images of Williams with her new body, new bob, and classy features are breathtaking!
