Boy do we have some “fetch” news to talk about, and yes–we’re making fetch happen. Tina Fey has announced that turning “Mean Girls” into a musical is definitely on her to-do list once “30 Rock” ends on Jan 31.

“I’m trying to develop it with my husband, who does all the music for ‘30 Rock’ and I think Paramount’s on board,” Fey said in an interview during the 2013 Screen Actors Guild Awards.

“Mean Girls” was one of the most popular movies when it came out back in 2004 and even today it still seems to be growing in popularity. It’s hard to go anywhere on the Internet without seeing gifs, memes, quotes, photos or videos from the movie. Lines like: “four for you Glen Coco,” “that’s so fetch,” and “she doesn’t even go here,” will be remembered forever.

Even though “Mean Girls 2″ didn’t do nearly as well as the original film, I think the “Mean Girls” musical definitely has some potential to it. Most of this is due to the fact that Tina Fey is on board for this. She wasn’t really involved with the second movie installment, which explains why it wasn’t as good. Tina Fey is a comedic genius and if it wasn’t for her, “Mean Girls” wouldn’t have been as good as it is.

Fey already stated that she’d be interested in having singer, Mariah Carey, in the musical version, but other than that there have been no more word about who could possibly appear. Being that Amanda Seyfried can actually sing, maybe she’ll make an appearance as Karen again and sing a song about how there is a 30% chance that is raining right now.

What are your thoughts about “Mean Girls” possibly turning into a musical? Would you go see it? Who do you think should be cast? Let us know!
