If your weekly dosage of Adam Levine on season 4 of The Voice isn’t fulfilling enough, you’ll appreciate the fact that Maroon 5 is hitting the road for a tour this summer whilst working on a new album. But if Maroon 5 just doesn’t happen to be your cup of tea, perhaps the brighter side to this announcement is that Kelly Clarkson will joining in as a guest performer, along with other artists on Adam’s label, 222 Records, including former Voice contestant, Tony Lucca.

The only more exciting than an upcoming tour is an upcoming album! The band spills some deets:

“The stuff we’re working on now, it definitely has gone maybe a little darker in its sound, maybe back a little bit more to what we kind of did on (our debut) `Songs About Jane,’” said guitarist James Valentine. “But at this point we do have all kinds of different songs and it is early.”

WHAT?! Best news ever! After the release of Overexposed, I was worried that Maroon 5 was leaving behind the alternative rock style that they have mastered so well. Though it is great that they are developing different styles and adding variety to their music, their more popular songs such as “Moves Like Jagger” gave me the impression that they were moving away from their soulful roots by setting their mind on money, and settling to sell pop songs.  However, “One More Night” did have the eerie vocal riffs that they were first known for, which justifies that they still know their mastery. If you can’t already tell, I am beyond enthusiastic for their new material.

The Grammy-winning band had announced that they will headline the 2013 Honda Civic Tour, which kicks off August 1 in St. Louis, and wraps October 5 in San Diego. So get your tickets now, and until then, catch Adam Levine weekly on NBC’s The Voice.

Are you excited for Maroon 5′s upcoming album?
