The cover for "#Beautiful" featuring Mariah Carey and Miguel

Twitter (B96Radio)

A prodigious voice has been missing from the airwaves lately. The owner of this celestial voice has been enslaved to a petty (yet incredibly well-paid) job on the reality television circuit, where she’s forced to teach plebeians how to one up her at her own schtick. It’s a sad state of affairs when a diva, queen, slayer, etc. is not blessing the general public on the regular with her talent. But now, there’s no need to fret any longer: Mariah Carey is back.

The new single is literally so ****ing beautiful that “****ing Beautiful” is the actual title, which makes it the most fitting name for a song in recent memory. Fellow R&B singer Miguel pairs up with Carey – even though she doesn’t need the help – and transforms the song into a breezy, old school jam reminiscent of Carey’s glory days.

My only gripe about “#Beautiful” (the censored title, for obvious reasons) concerns the lack of Carey in favor of Miguel, but thankfully Carey’s legendary falsetto graces us near the middle of the track and feels an angel kissing me on the cheek. I can easily see the track receiving heavy airplay and becoming an instant summer anthem, considering its cutesy chill vibe (and I can’t wait).

Listen to “#Beautiful” below and let us know what you think!
