Meryl Streep won on all fronts at the 84th Academy Awards

Awards Season may have ended Sunday night with the Academy Awards, but Joan Rivers isn’t done talking about the winners and losers just yet. You won the Best Actress Oscar, Meryl, but you can also add Best Dressed according to E!’s Fashion Police to your list of accolades. Streep wore a golden Lanvin gown that truly depicted her movie star power.

The fabulous gowns always steal the men’s thunder on the red carpet, so I deem it necessary to highlight some of the best dressed fellas from Sunday’s big show.

“Best friends” Brad Pitt and George Clooney rocked the red carpet with their significant others. Pitt donned a Tom Ford tux while Clooney retained his ‘I look so old, yet date the hottest women’ swagger in Armani. However, it was the older gentlemen walking the carpet who proved that style only gets better with age. Best Supporting Actor winner Christopher Plummer looked spectacular in his midnight blue velvet tuxedo. Former Best Actor winner Colin Firth set the bar very high with his sleek Ermenegildo Zegna look and Best Actor nominee Gary Oldman looked dapper in a Paul Smith Bespoke tux.

I also must give a shout out to funny-man Jonah Hill, who looked so clean-cut and put-together on Sunday night in his black on black ensemble. He became a serious actor after that red carpet. Congrats Jonah! And, of course, the big winner of the night Mr. Jean Dujardin looked superb, but who cares how he looked, I mean, he won an Oscar for a role where he didn’t say more than five words.

Okay, I have given the men the attention they rightly deserve, but I have to mention some of Joan Rivers’ comments from last night’s Fashion Police. This woman knows how to tell a perfectly offensive joke!

She started off the show with Rooney Mara’s Givenchy look. I personally thought it was great to see the always severe-looking Mara wearing something white and airy. Joan commented, “She looked like a dominatrix getting married.”

She then went onto Gwyneth Paltrow, who will be remembered for many Oscars to come for her amazing Tom Ford gown with stunning cape. Joan loved it! “If you convert to Christianity, this is what you will see before you die,” she said.

Once again we find the young Shailene Woodley wearing something atrocious. The starlet was wearing Valentino Couture, but it just looked all wrong on her. To the agreement of everyone, Rivers said, ” This is the type of dress if Betty White got married now she would wear this dress.”

Sadly, Shailene Woodley looked like a hot mess at every Award Show

The panel decided on Gwyneth’s white stunner as the Best Dressed of the evening and Berenice Bejo’s green mess as the Worst Dressed with Joan saying, “It looked like it was covered in needles. They got the idea from Courtney Love’s bathroom floor.”

I can’t wait until next Awards Season for more fashion hits and misses!
