Hold on, I need a minute. My excitement for Anchorman 2 became even bigger once I heard rumors that the fabulous Kristen Wiig would be joining the cast. Then I saw the two of them present at the Golden Globes and I got even more excited. Finally, it’s been confirmed that the two Saturday Night alums will be taking over the big screen in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues!

Rumors have been swirling the Wiig would be playing Brick’s (Steve Carrell) love interest but that hasn’t been confirmed. A relationship between Carrell and Wiig would be unforgettable. Or maybe Christina Applegate, who will reprise her role as Veronica Corningstone, will have some fierce female competition on screen.

Off-screen, Applegate is more than excited to welcome Wiig to the once all male cast. She broke the news via Twitter, “So excited Kristin Wiig has joined our cast for anchorman2. Going 2 b best movie ever made. Besides the best movies ever made.”

I’m sure there will be some more interesting cameos from other hilarious SNL cast mates. You never know what Will Ferrell has up his sleeve. The film is set to release in December. I’m not sure I can wait that long.
