Kim Kardashian by PETA

It seems as if Kim’s life has spun more out of control than ever. We’ve all been asking how real her 72 day-long marriage to Kris Humphries was, but now there’s another question: How real is the fur?  Kim has now been targeted and mocked by PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), who have dedicated a holiday-season billboard in Los Angeles urging the reality star to rethink one of her luxe fashion choices.

On the billboard, going up in early December at the corner of Beverly Boulevard and Sweetzer Avenue, a fur-clad Kardashian sits opposite an adorable, sad shot of baby foxes. It reads: “Kim: These Babies Miss Their Mother.  Is She on Your Back?”

“Kim knows that animals on fur farms are beaten, electrocuted, and often skinned alive. We’ve explained it to her, and she’s watched a video expose that was filmed inside fur farms,” says PETA Senior Vice President Lisa Lange of the E! star, who has been laying relatively low since filing for divorce from Kris Humphries on Halloween. However, they do add that once she does “end her relationship with her fur, they will so gladly take her discards and donate them to the homeless.”

Kim’s sister Khloe, 27, swore off animal pelts and even appeared in the buff for an “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” campaign ad. Kim, on the other hand, has been named “Worst Dressed Celebrity” for 2010 by PETA, and they are expressing their decision with this ad.

Kim, we thought you’d disappeared from the Hollywood scene in the wake of the media scrutiny surrounding your break-up, but you have again grabbed headlines for all the wrong reasons. It may time to file another divorce — from your fur. And possibly after this billboard, you will be convinced to say “I do” again, but this time to a more loving and humane wardrobe.
