Grammy-nominated singer Kenna will independently release three upcoming EPs. The first EP Land 2 Air Chronicles 1: Chaos and Darkness, will drop on April 26. The first out of three Land 2 Air EPs, it will feature three new songs and original art. Kenna describes the long-awaited Land 2 Air Chronicles 1 as portraying “the struggle to break free of the chains that prevent vision coming to life or taking flight.”
The first single, “Chains,” which is co-written by Paul Banks of Interpol, features Chad Hugo of the Neptunes. The dance-anthem was offered to fans on YouTube two months ago. Check it out below:
For people who aren’t familiar with Kenna, you might remember the Ethiopian-born musician from MTV’s Summit on the Summit, where he and celebrity friends Jessica Biel, Emily Hirsch, Lupe Fiasco and others climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in an effort to address and solve the global clean water crisis. Kenna was nominated for best urban/alternative performance for “Say Goodbye to Love” for the 2009 Grammy Awards. His debut album, New Sacred Cow (Flawless/Columbia), was released in 2003.
The EP was initially set to drop April 5. However, a technical mishap with the hard drives of The Land 2 Air Chronicles delayed the first EP’s release until April 26, according to Kenna’s website. “Everyone on Kenna’s team has been on edge about things,” says a statement on the site. “Thank you for your continued support with everything.”
The EP will be made available digitally to retail outlets. Kenna’s third full-length album, Songs for Flight, is set to release in 2012.Tags: Chad Hugo, Chains, Chaos and Darkness, Emily Hirsch, Interpol, Jessica Biel, Kenna, Land 2 Air Chronicles, Lupe Fiasco, MTV, Neptunes, Paul Banks, Summit on the Summit
