Kate Voegele

Kate Voegele will finally drop her third studio album in conjunction with her appearance on One Tree Hill’s season eight finale on May 17.

The singer-songwriter slash actress took some time off from her reoccurring role on the show to do some soul-searching for her newest album.

“I know who I am as an artist, and I know what my sound is, but I wanted to know what I could do in order to take it to that next level,” Voegele told E!. “So the experiences I had last year of moving to California and traveling to places like Rome and Nicaragua where I met a lot of people just had a really big impact in my life. Gravity Happens came from all of those influences, and the song that the album is named for is about how stuff just happens and that it’s out of our control, and we all learn that as we get older.”

This album is truly going to be a reflection of Kate putting on her big girl shoes.

“For me, growing up and making big decisions when you become the CEO of your life, you realize that a lot of your choices are up to you and that is cool but it’s also scary,” she said.

Gravity Happens

One of the songs, called “Sand Castles,” is apparently that quote in a nutshell.

Creating this album was tough for her, the Ohio-native said, because she was away from acting and away from friends. Fortunately, she’ll be able to conquer the best of both worlds in One Tree Hill’s season finale when her character, Mia, will perform one of the songs from her real-life counterpart’s new album!

May 17 too far away? I know, I agree. Click here to listen to a sample song from her new album!
