Karl Lagerfeld and... Karl Lagerfeld

Let’s just make it general knowledge that I love Karl.

No, he’s not some hot guy in a band (although that would be nice!); he’s the Kaiser himself – Karl Lagerfeld, creative director of Chanel and his own namesake line, Lagerfeld. My heartfelt affections for him aren’t because of his twisted, chic designs, like what he has done for Net-a-Porter, but because of what comes out of his wonderfully thick-accented mouth.

Every word he nonchalantly utters is pure gold to my ears, whether it be frank vanity (“If you throw money out of the window, throw it out with joy. Don’t say ‘one shouldn’t do that’ – that is bourgeois.”) or expressively inspiring (“The best thing to do is dive with your imagination – you can never drown yourself.”)

So when I saw this interview of Lagerfeld being interviewed by none other than himself, I eeked, I lol’ed, and I was inspired. What makes him truly a genius is that he motivates himself and the world to push the boundaries, live life to the extremes and of course do it in style… just don’t ask him “how to be chic.”
