At first glance, you may notice 17-year-old Josilyn Williams’  smoldering eyes, beautiful bone structure and gorgeous mane of raven hair. But the 5’10,” Alabama native also has a soft, understated beauty that is seductively subtle, and the fashion world and social media universe have taken notice. She’s been compared to African-American models such as Chanel Iman, Jourdan Dunn and Liya Kebede. She told New York Magazine in 2011 Chanel Iman was indeed her favorite model. “Definitely Chanel Iman—she’s gorgeous! I love her,” Williams said.

Even though she’s a novice to the modeling world, signing with New York’s DNA Models in 2011, Josilyn is quickly carving her own lane in print and on the runways. Her beauty and near perfect proportions have made her one of the newcomers to watch. While we’re sure she’s flattered by the comparisons to other models, Josilyn has a unique look all her own as well as a burgeoning list of accomplishments and fashion spreads.

In one year alone, she’s been featured in fashion editorials for Glamour, Elle, V Magazine, and an online campaign for retail giant, Macy’s. She also graced the runway for Nanette Lepore’s spring fashion show during the 2011 and 2012 Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York. Josilyn also appeared at other spring 2012 fashion shows, including Faster by Mark Fast, Karen Walker, Rachel Roy, Wayne, and Teen Vogue‘s spring 2012 “Declare Your Denim.” That’s pretty impressive for the new kid on the fashion block who just recently signed with Premier Models in London this past March.

We’re sure it won’t be long before Josilyn’s delicate and refined features make their way onto the pages of Vogue and on runways for other major designers in the upcoming seasons. Until then, you can ogle at Josilyn’s beautiful pictures and portfolios at DNA and Premier.

From “Sweet Home” Alabama to “The Big Apple,” do you think the Southern beauty is destined to be the next big thing in modeling and fashion?
