Is it possible that the six Grammy nomination singer, Frank Ocean, will be quitting the music scene? After the success of Ocean’s Channel Orange album, it is possible that the star might be walking away to do some writing…for a novel that is.

Frank Ocean can definitely say 2012 was his year. He came, he saw, he conquered, but now the former Odd Future member might be interested in writing novels in the near future rather than songs. In a recent interview with The Guardian UK, Ocean opened up about his thoughts on writing and how he considers himself a story-teller.

During the interview, Frank Ocean said:

“I focus on both sonics and story, but music sometimes, just music itself, can turn into more of a maths problem. I guess everything in life is a math problem, but it can be more about an empirical route to getting the symmetry that you want, and this vibe, sonically. But storytelling’s a different thing. Like I said, it’s the more interesting part about making music for me, or making albums and songs and stuff. So much so that I might not make another album. I might just write a novel next. I don’t know!”

When asked if Channel Orange was going to be his last album, Ocean replied:

“It could be. It could be it, if I flew next week and my plane crashed! It could be it if somebody walked along and shot me for my bracelet or something. It could always be it. The idea of recognizing your strengths and using them in as versatile a way as you can is cool to me. I don’t ever want to be caught up in a system of thinking I can do one thing cause that’s just … that’s just telling yourself a lie. But I do like to sing. I play piano every day. I enjoy that.”

I’m sure plenty of his fans would love to read his novel, especially after the beautifully displayed lyrics in his songs. But no more albums? This can’t be true! The “Thinking About You” singer has shown the music industry what he’s got in 2012, especially since he spent so many years behind the scenes writing and producing for stars like John Legend, Beyoncé, and even Justin Bieber.

So now that his success has grown with his highly coveted Album of the Year nomination, I believe people are waiting for more. Lets just hope that if Frank Ocean does decide to write a novel, he will follow it up with another great album. We need more story-teller writers like him!

Do you think he should stop his career? Enjoy one of Frank Ocean’s most controversially written song on the album, “Pyramids” and tell us what you think!
