Baggy Skinny Jeans

A good pair of skinny jeans can do wonders on many body types and really jazz up an outfit. Dark skinny jeans, a white top, black blazer and boots is a classic look. No matter how you accessorize these jeans or what wash/design you get them in, there is one thing they all have in common, they’re skinny. At least, I thought they were supposed to be but that seems to be changing.

Now available on oaknyc.com are baggy, skinny jeans. They are officially called “drop skinny jeans,” and originally retailed on the site for $158.00 though now they are $79.00. That’s still a bit pricey even if I did like these weird harem pants/jeans/jeggings.

I don’t get the point of having loose fitting skinny jeans unless they are for men, which is actually how GAP is advertising their more reasonable $29.99 version. Oak, a fashion brand started in 2003, is branding them as Women’s. I’m all for androgynous or unisex clothing, but I have to admit, I don’t see these catching on unless they become a part of Lil Wayne’s new Truckfitclothing line. I could possibly see him wearing them, but the everyday girl…um, not so much.

For starters, the back is appalling. I don’t know any girl that intentionally wants to flatten and lower her butt. Also, the idea of denim rubbing together making that weird sound as you walk, and just the feel, doesn’t make me want to give this a try. Then again, I didn’t think harem pants would really catch on and now that trend’s in full blast, so maybe this is the next big thing. What do you think, will they be on your must have list?
