Indigo Charlie

Every summer is filled with great barbecues, fun vacations and fresh, summer hits. And this summer has not fallen behind on those aspects; especially on the summer hits. Inspired by the summer, most hip-hop artists release some of their best work during this time. But we have all had the pleasure of being able to get a taste of some great soul music from artists Indigo Charlie and JusTT&GifTT this summer.

Releasing the video to their hit single, “Cool Love,” Indigo Charlie and JusTT&GifTT are blazing up this summer! In the midst of all the success from the video, I got the chance to talk with Indigo Charlie and JusTT&GifTT about the video and their work:

What are you currently working on?

Indigo Charlie: Right now I am working on fashion and music simultaneously. During the week I spend my time working at fashion house Giorgio Armani along with going to school 15 hours a week at FIDM. In regard to music, I’m creating some of my best work right now. The EP is coming sooner than you think….I promise!

JusTT&GifTT: We’re currently working on a mixtape called prototype A. It’s a combination of original pieces followed by several remixed songs. It’s a fresh new sound. It’s new lounge hop with a touch of alternative rap…pure lyricist!

JusTT&GifTT

What was the inspiration behind the song and the video?

IC: The inspiration for the video was love and celebrating that it has no boundaries, that is why you see so many different walks of life in this video. I also was inspired by the movement of the song. This song, unlike my others, made me want to dance, play with my hair, and smile….SO I DID. This song is my summer fling. Hot huh?

J&G: The inspiration behind “Cool Love” derived from the NY atmosphere of relationships. The city has a lot of singles and most people don’t want to be involved in a serious relationship. The idea of cool is something less serious, a fling love with the possibility of becoming serious. As far as the video, that was the wonderful work of Indigo Charlie, Chanel Green, Hardy “Indiigo” Muanza and Clayton Carr. As artists we’re optimistic, very artistic and fashion forward, so when they pointed in a direction it was nothing for us to follow!

What would you like your fans to get from your music?

IC: I would like my supporters to feel my music. Hearing it is one thing, but once those words, beats, and melodies hit your bones I’ve done my job….well.

J&G: We want our fans to feel connected at all times. We want to develop a family commitment with our fans. This is a long term relationship. We’re very emotional and passionate about our work and that’s what we want our fans to feel every step of the way on this journey.

Who do you hope to work with in the future?

IC: Dear Prince, will you marry…I mean, make sweet musical love with me?

J&G: We would love to work with Daft Punk Justice, Andre 3000, Bruno Mars, Kanye West, Janelle Monae, etc.

Obviously determined and very much into creating amazing music, Indigo Charlie and JusTT&GifTT have just begun. Taking us to a different sound of Soul/R&B music, their supporters are looking forward to watching them inspire others. Indigo Charlie and JusTT&GifTT are just scratching the surface. We can’t wait until they completely push through!
