Jennifer Lawrence at Dior Fashion Show

2012 has been a big year for celebrity-designer collaborations. It seems that more and more celebrities are jumping on the ad campaign bandwagon. The latest celebrity to get a new deal? Jennifer Lawrence! Sorry Hunger Games fans, she won’t need a bow and arrow for this gig. 22-year old actress

Following in the footsteps of Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis and Charlize Theron, Lawrence will give a fresh new look to Miss Dior’s Handbag Collection campaign which is set to be unveiled Spring of 2013. This will be the first time Lawrence collaborates with a high-end fashion brand. But she hasn’t been completely off the fashion map, we should have seen this coming. Speculation of the collaboration began this July when she attended Raf Simons’s Dior Couture debut.

“Like everyone else, I first discovered Jennifer Lawrence in the roles she played in action movies,” said Dior creative director Raf Simons. “I was, of course, struck by her incredible on-screen presence in these blockbuster films, but also impressed by her powerful interpretations of subtler more rounded characters. Her youth and her classic beauty, but also her force of character and the complexity she’s capable of embodying at such a young age, are, for me, both unique and very moving.”

Lawrence’s biggest blockbuster success has been “The Hunger Games.” The film is an adaptation of the best-selling teen novel by Suzanne Collins. It has made her the highest-grossing action heroine of all time, the film topping $152.5 million in the three days following its release in March this year. But even before she was Katniss in “The Hunger Games” she became the youngest Oscar nominee in the category of best actress for her work in “Winter’s Bone”

She also has quite the reputation for being a red carpet show stopper. She has actually worn Dior to many of her events in the past year and always looks elegant and classic.

If there was ever any doubt that the sky is the limit for this young actress this Dior campaign settles the argument.

Jennifer told WWD“It’s such a dream to represent an iconic brand that is synonymous with high fashion.”
