How I Met Your Mother has been like the FRIENDS of the new millennium. Minus Central Perk coffee shop, plus MacLarens pub and a scandalous main character love triangle. CBS has announced that HIMYM will be returning for a ninth and final season. So exciting, yet so sad. Neil Patrick Harris, Cobie Smulders, Jason Segel, Josh Radnor and Alyson Hannigan have all signed on to be part of this end of an era.

There are not many shows that can make me laugh out loud when I am alone and watching TV in my living room, but HIMYM is one of them. Barney brings the show to a whole different level of hilariousness and has provided fans with quotable material for years to come. And no one is more likeable and fun than Marshall, especially with his perfectly paired little wife, Lily! And then we have Robin, who surprised everyone when we discovered her childhood secret, which made her character much more likeable. Ted is supposed to be the most relateable character who struggles as a single guy in NYC. He is the glue that holds all the characters together, but if you ask me, he is actually the least interesting person on the show. I mean, I still want to know who the mother of his children are, but I prefer for Barney, Marshall, Lilly and Robin to be nearby.

But HIMYM is different. It is the new age FRIENDS with a twist. Throughout the entire series viewers have been on the edge of their seats about the back story, wondering as they patiently wait to find out who the mother of Ted’s children really is. Since HIMYM is soon coming to an end, that means the time is near for us to finally find out the answer to this nail biting mystery!!

Now that Robin is ruled out (….or is she? hmmmm…), is the mother someone Ted has already met? Stella? Zoey? Victoria? Is she someone Ted will meet at the wedding that appears to be, but may not be (you never know!), Barney and Robin’s? I have so many questions! And if this 9th and final season ends without us finding out who Ted’s children’s mother is…. that would be super disappointing. I look forward to the new season to start and will most definitely be sad when it comes to an end. Who knows, maybe they will eventually pull a Boy Meets World and make a show called How My Son Met My Grandkid’s Mother. Just a suggestion…

Are you excited for the 9th and final season of HIMYM? Who is your favorite character? What do you think will happen?

I love this show. I can’t wait to find out about the mother but I’ll miss the show when it’s over!
