A Helmut Lang Design

New York Fashion Week is only a few days away, and while I’m very excited to see all the new pieces we’ll be wearing come spring, I’m also excited to see some familiar faces.  The creative directors of Helmut Lang are the husband and wife design team, Nicole and Michael Colovos, who began their jobs after the label, which was bought by Theory from Prada, was re-launched. The last fashion show ever put on by the brand Helmut Lang was in 2005, but the label has decided to show this year at NYFW.

I’ve been a big fan of the Helmut Lang label ever since I first saw their AW11 Collection. Even though the color palette of the collection included mostly black and gray, I still enjoyed it a lot. The use of drapery in some of the pieces, the tailored look on others, and the fitted dresses won me over. Most people probably can’t afford the gorgeous clothes, but that doesn’t mean we can’t lust over them! I’m excited to see what the label will be showing in their next collection; hopefully, there’s more color in this one.

You can watch the fashion show, live, at helmutlang.com on September 10th. The website is also launching an online store later this month.
