Nick Cave and Neko Case

As we reported earlier this year, zombies are infiltrating HBO’s vampire soap opera/gratuitous bloodfeast True Blood.  No, not those zombiesThese Zombies.  The Zombies, a 60s psych-pop outfit, had a number of hits back in the day, including the immortal “Time of the Season.”  Now, Nick Cave and Neko Case have covered their song “She’s Not There” for the credits of True Blood‘s Season 4 premiere.  Listen to the cover after the jump.

It’s a strange cover, both creepier than the original and oddly carnival-esque with what sounds like an accordian or some really funky keyboard in the background.  Somehow, I can picture Case and Cave hanging around with undead dancing monkeys while recording this track.

As we anticipate the premiere of Season 4 this Sunday, “She’s Not There” will provide the otherworldly soundtrack to our longing.
